Details for The Minack Theatre
Porthcurno is home to the internationally renowned open air theatre in Cornwall where you can enjoy performances of various genres, opera's, dramas and musicals all grace this stage and it is not often that the cast may have to vie for attention of the crowd but with the cliff top views, you can understand why.
The theatre was once the love of a lady called Rowena Cade who dedicated most of her life to bringing this theatre into being; she was hands on rebuilding and carving this site out of the gorse and heather. The theatre is now in the hands of a charitable trust and you can come and enjoy it even when there are no shows on. The Theatre is open from May until September and during the day you are welcome to come and have a look around The Rowena Cade Exhibition Centre and read the story for yourself. Visit the Cliff Garden that Rowena developed back in the 1930's, some of these plants are quite exotic, due to the climate in this particular part of the country. You will be able to purchase some of these plants to take home as a happy reminder of an enjoyable day out.
