Details for The Cornwall War Museum

When you mention Cornwall people think of sunshine and beaches and cream teas and surfing, the list could go on, how many of us think about Cornwall and think about the war time efforts?

RAF Davidstow Moor was base to the RAF from 1942 to 1945 and has been put to various uses ever since, a wide range of planes were based here and they undertook many missions such as Air Sea Rescue missions, Anti-Submarine Patrols and you can come and find out all about this rich history at the Museum which is in the private ownership of a couple who are bit by bit bringing back to life the story of the RAF.

Formula One also has a part to play in the history of the airbase. Lotus had their first win here and the field was host to F1 for three years.

Every Thursday from July to September there is a guided tour of the airfield (about 1.5 hrs) with a maximum of 10 people (booking essential). You are welcome to make bookings for your school where talks and films are part of the education and if you have friends who share your passion for WW2, make a booking for a private party, all are welcome.

We should inform you that next to us there is another, smaller, museum which can be confusing for visitors. To ensure that you find us, please drive though the blue double gates that are in front of you and then on to the car park inside.
