Details for Sterts Theatre

Near Liskeard is Sterts Theatre and Art Centre which was the dream and ambition of a couple who themselves were students of the Arts. Anne and Ewart Sturrock were determined that the young local talent should have a place in which to further their interests, further their abilities and therefore decided to purchase the barns and outhouses that actually went with the house that they owned and the creation of a Arts Centre got under way. This was back in 1982.

It received funding from various organisations in the late eighties and became a charitable trust, this funding allowed for further development and in 1990, the Sterts Open Air Theatre gave its first performance, not only was this a big personal achievement for the Sturrocks, but for Cornwall also.

The diary is full at the Sterts Theatre, with plays ranging from Calendar Girls to The Sound of Music, there is a show for all and to make it a truly lovely evening out, why not enjoy a meal at the Sterts Café, this is a lovely light and bright dining area where the food is home cooked and delicious and with prices so cheap, you will want to come back again the next night.

There is much going on at the Sterts Theatre and Art Centre such as Poetry Festivals, Film workshops, you need to go and visit this Theatre on a regular basis as new features are on display all the time and it also deserves your support.
