Situated on the Northern coast of the toe of Cornwall and a few miles north of Penzance is the popular seaside resort of St Ives, which earned the title of ‘Best UK Seaside Town’ from the British Travel Awards. Families will love the clean sandy beaches around the town and surfers should head for Porthmeor Beach on the northern side. Explore some of the other beaches close by such as Carbis Bay, ideal for water skiing and windsurfing, and Porthkidney Sands, great for sunbathing. Golfers are spoiled for choice here as there are several courses close by including West Cornwall Golf Course overlooking St Ives bay. Take a trip on the Lappa Valley Steam Railway at St Newlyn, or explore the preserved site of Geevor Tin Mine at St Just. Visit Paradise Park at Hayle, home of the World Parrot Trust. The Eden Project at St Austell is ideal for a day trip and has the world’s largest greenhouse and two huge geodisc conservatories to explore. No trip to this part of England would be complete without visiting the famous landmark that is Lands End, the most Westerly part of the mainland.
